This standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving the energy management system, and aims to enable organizations to achieve continuous improvement of energy performance and energy management systems through a systematic approach. This standard: applies to any organization regardless of its type, size, complexity, geographic location, organizational culture, or the products and services it provides; b) applies to activities that affect energy performance that are managed and controlled by the organization c) is applicable to any amount, use or type of energy consumption; d) requires demonstration of continuous energy performance improvement, but does not specify the extent to which energy performance improvement is achieved; e) can be used alone, or in coordination or integration with other management systems. Appendix A provides guidance on the use of this standard.
