Scope: This standard, combined with GB/T 19001-2008, specifies the quality management system requirements for the design, development and production of automotive related products; when relevant, it is also applicable to installation and service. This International Standard applies to sites where the organization performs customer-specified production and/or service part manufacturing. Support functions, whether on-site or off-site (e.g. design centres, corporate headquarters and distribution centres), form part of the site audit due to their supportive role to the site, but cannot be certified to this standard on their own. This standard can be applied to the entire automotive supply chain. This standard only allows deletions related to 7.3 in cases where the organization has no responsibility for product design and development. Design deletions for the manufacturing process are not permitted.
