Scope

This standard specifies the emission limits and test methods of visible pollutants from the exhaust of compression ignition engines and vehicles equipped with compression ignition engines. This standard applies to: Part I: Emissions of visible pollutants from compression ignition engines. Part II: Emission of visible pollutants from the exhaust of compression-ignition engines installed on vehicles that have been type-approved in accordance with Part I of this standard. Part III: Emission of visible pollutants from the exhaust of vehicles equipped with compression ignition engines that have not been type-approved separately in accordance with Part I of this standard.
