Scope

This standard specifies the exhaust smoke emission limits and measurement methods of compression ignition engines and compression ignition engine vehicles for vehicles. This standard applies to the exhaust smoke emission of compression ignition engines, including engine type approval and production consistency inspection. Exhaust smoke emission of compression ignition engine vehicles, including new vehicle type approval and production consistency inspection, testing of new production vehicles and in-use vehicles. This standard is also applicable to in-use vehicles manufactured according to GB 14761.6-1993 "Smoke Emission Standard for Free Acceleration of Diesel Vehicles". This standard also applies to light-duty vehicles equipped with compression ignition engines whose pollutant emissions meet GB 18352. This standard does not apply to low-speed trucks and three-wheeled vehicles.
