Scope: This standard specifies the emission limits and test methods of exhaust pollutants from compression ignition engines for vehicles. This standard is applicable to M₂, M₃, N₁, N₂ and N₃ with a design speed greater than 25km/h and the total mass is greater than 3500kg compression-ignition engines (not including engines for agricultural vehicles) installed in category M₁ motor vehicles. If N₁ and M₂ vehicles equipped with compression ignition engines have complied with the "Light Vehicle Pollutant Emission Limits and Measurement Methods (I)", "Light Vehicle Pollutant Emission Limits and Measurement Method (II)" certification, the engine will not be certified according to this standard. Compression-ignition engines that use other fuels than diesel (such as liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas or mixed fuels, etc.) shall be implemented with reference to this standard.
