- Scope
- This Part applies to replaceable bulbs (filament bulbs and discharge bulbs) used in headlamps, fog lamps and signal lamps of road motor vehicles. In particular, it applies to lamps listed in IEC 60809. This standard also applies to other existing and to-be-developed bulbs and light sources within this category, for example, light sources that emit light from light-emitting diodes (LEDs). This part specifies the requirements and test methods for bulb life, luminous flux maintenance, torsional strength, glass bulb strength, vibration and shock resistance. In addition, maximum temperature limits, maximum bulb profile and maximum permissible voltage surge are given as guidelines for the design of lighting and electrical installations. For some of the requirements given in this section, see the data given in the table. For lamps not listed in the table, the relevant data are provided by the manufacturer of the lamp and the responsible seller. These performance requirements are in addition to the basic requirements specified in IEC 60809. However, these performance requirements are not the basis for the type approval of the product by the authority. Note: In different terminology standards, different terms are defined: "incandescent lamp" (incandescent lamp) (845-07-04 in GB/T 2900.65-2004) and "discharge lamp" (discharge lamp) (GB/T 2900.65-2004, 845-07-17). In this section, "filament lamp" (filament lamp) and "discharge lamp" (discharge lamp) are used. However, when only "light bulb" (1amp) is written, it refers to both classes of bulbs, unless the context clearly shows that it is used to refer to only one class of bulbs.
