Scope

This standard stipulates the calculation of fuel consumption by the carbon balance method by measuring the emitted carbon dioxide (CO₂), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) under simulated urban and suburban working conditions. Test methods and calculation methods. This standard is applicable to vehicles of category M₁ powered by ignition engines or compression ignition engines and whose maximum design speed is greater than or equal to 50km/h, and can also be used for vehicles of category M_{Subscript 2} and N₁ category vehicles.
