Scope: 1.1 This standard stipulates that the carbon dioxide (C0₂), carbon monoxide (C0) and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions of vehicles under the cycle of simulated urban and suburban conditions are measured, and the fuel consumption is calculated by the carbon balance method. Quantitative testing and calculation methods, as well as inspection and judgment methods of production consistency. 1.2 This standard applies to the M₁ and N₁ categories powered by ignition engines or compression ignition engines, whose maximum design speed is greater than or equal to 50 km/h, and whose maximum design total mass does not exceed 3 500 kg vehicles of category M₂. 1.3 This standard does not apply to vehicles that cannot burn gasoline or diesel.
