This part of GB/T 223 specifies the determination of sulfur content in iron, steel and alloys by methylene blue spectrophotometry. This part applies to the determination of the sulfur content in steel and alloys with a mass fraction of 0.0003% to 0.01%. Niobium, silicon, tantalum and titanium interfere with the determination of sulfur. According to the content of interfering elements, the scope of application and sample amount are given in Table 1.
