This test:--provides an accelerated test method for evaluating the corrosion effect of sulfur dioxide polluted atmosphere on contact points and connectors;--especially suitable for comparative tests;--cannot be used as a routine corrosion test. Namely, it may not be able to predict the corrosion behavior of contacts and connections in industrial atmospheres. The purpose of this test is: a) To determine the effect of gases containing sulfur dioxide on the contact performance of precious metal or precious metal-coated contact points and connectors, excluding components composed of silver and certain silver alloys. b) Check the firmness and effectiveness of the solderless connection. In all tests, the change in contact resistance of the connectors as a result of exposure to the sulfur dioxide test gas serves as the primary performance criterion.
