Scope
GB/T 1634 specifies the method for determining the deformation temperature of plastic load (bending stress under three-point loading). In order to adapt to different types of materials, different types of specimens and different constant test loads are specified. 1.2 This part of GB/T l634 specifies general test methods, Part 2 specifies specific requirements for plastics, hard rubber and long fiber reinforced composite materials, and Part 3 specifies specific requirements for high-strength thermosetting laminates. The method specified in 1.3 is suitable for evaluating the relative performance of different types of materials when they are raised to high temperature at a specified heating rate under load. The results obtained do not necessarily represent the maximum applicable temperature. Because the main factors in actual use, such as time, loading conditions and nominal surface stress, may be different from the test conditions. Only data obtained from materials with the same flexural modulus at room temperature are truly comparable. 1.4 This method specifies the preferred size of the sample to be used, and different results may be obtained when testing with samples of different sizes or prepared under different conditions. Therefore, sample preparation conditions and experimental variables should be carefully controlled and documented when reproducible data are required. 1.5 Data obtained by the test methods described cannot be used to predict the behavior of actual products in end use, nor can they be used to design, analyze, or predict the durability of materials at high temperatures. 1.6 Although Part 2 of GB/T 1634 allows the use of two sample placement methods, the horizontal placement method is preferred and recommended; the lateral placement method is only optional. In the next revision of this standard, the side standing method will be completely deleted. 1.7 This method is commonly referred to as HDT (Heat Distortion Test), although no official document uses this designation.
