This standard specifies the detailed classification of products in group R (temporary protection against corrosion) in class L (lubricants and related products), and it is a part of GB7631. It needs to be understood in conjunction with the GB7631.1 standard. This classification applies to products that are temporarily protected against corrosion. It only includes products whose main function is to temporarily protect against corrosion. "Temporary" does not refer to the rust-proof period of such products but means that they can be removed after a certain period of time. This classification does not include products which are used for other purposes but which also provide temporary protection against corrosion; nor does it include vapor-phase preservatives and other chemical products whose properties differ from those of petroleum products. This classification applies to the protection of bare and coated metals (painted metal surfaces, car bodies, etc.). Corrosion is considered the destruction of all metal surfaces, not only ferrous metals.
