Scope
This part of GB/TI 19355 provides guidance and recommendations on the basic principles applicable to the design of anti-corrosion sherardizing of manufactured parts. The protection of the parts by the zinc coating depends on the construction method of the coating, the design of the parts and the specific environment in which the parts are exposed. Zinc sherardized parts can use additional coatings (beyond the scope of this part of GB/T 19355), such as organic coatings (wet coating or powder coating) for further protection. This combination of layers applied to live zinc parts is often referred to as a "composite coating system". For basic guidance on this issue, see ISO 12944-5 and EN 13438. The anti-corrosion maintenance of galvanized steel parts is beyond the scope of this part of GB/T 19355. Requirements related to specific products (such as for fasteners or iso-galvanized coatings on steel pipes) shall take precedence over the basic recommendations of this part.
