This International Standard specifies the conditions for carrying out torque/clamp force tests on threaded fasteners and related parts. It is applicable, basically, to bolts, screws, studs and nuts made of carbon steel and alloy steel, whose mechanical properties are specified in ISO 898-1, ISO 898-2 or ISO 898-6, having ISO metric threads with thread sizes M3 to M39. It is also applicable to the combination of other externally and internally threaded fasteners with a triangular ISO thread according to ISO 68-1. It is not applicable to set screws and similar threaded fasteners that are not under tensile stresses, nor to screws which form their own mating thread or threaded fasteners having additional self-locking features. Unless otherwise agreed, the tests are carried out at room temperature. However, tests carried out under standard conditions are made at a temperature of 10 °C to 35 °C. This method allows determination of the tightening characteristics of threaded fasteners and related parts.

This British Standard specifies requirements and test methods for unions and adaptors for the installation of low pressure gas meters. It is applicable to unions and adaptors for gas meters for use with 1st,2nd and 3rd family gases at temperatures between -20℃ and +60℃,up to a maximum operating pressure of 75 mbar and a maximum incidental pressure of 200 mbar. Abstract ISO 1891:2009 provides translation guidance for terms commonly used to describe fasteners. ISO 1891:2009 lays down the terminology of fasteners in English, French and Russian, recommended for use unless otherwise specified in the appropriate product standard. At present, not all of the fasteners listed are covered by ISO documents. For the main part, the items have been selected from existing national standards. Also included are obsolescent types (those being used up from stock) in order that their terminology may be standardized at the same time. The drawings are essentially diagrammatic, in particular those showing bolts and screws having special characteristics. In addition to terms used in the three official ISO languages (English, French and Russian), ISO 1891:2009 gives the equivalent terms in Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, and Swedish; these are published under the responsibility of the member bodies for China (SAC), Germany (DIN), Italy (UNI), Japan (JISC), Spain (AENOR), and Sweden (SIS), respectively, and are given for information only. Only the terms given in the official languages can be considered as ISO terms.

This test procedure is intended to provide a quality control method for checking torque-tension characteristics of non-prevailing torque type threaded steel fasteners 6 through 24 mm nomial diameters. Realistically, torque- tension relationships for specific individual fastener assembly joints will vary due to the different joint parameters.
