1 This part of ISO 4394 specifies the mechanical proper-ties, dimensional tolerances, surface finishes and technical delivery conditions for round steel tubes, seamless or welded type, hot or cold worked condition, with plain ends and having specially finished bores with or without metal removal. 2 The tubes defined by this part of ISO 4394 are intended for use as barreis in a wide variety of fluid power cylinders. This International Standard specifies a procedure for the calibration of automatic counting instruments for particles suspended in liquids when used for the determination of particle size distribution of contaminants encountered in hydraulic fluid power applications. It also establishes a uniform and realistic basis for particle sizing and counting. NOTE — It is assumed that users of this procedure are competent in the operation of their particular particle-counter and that proper sample-handling techniques will be used throughout the procedure. This International Standard specifies methods for determining the performance and efficiency of hydraulic fluid power positive displacement pumps, motors and integral transmis-sions. It applies to components having continuously rotating shafts. This International Standard describes requirements for test installations, test procedures (under steady-state conditions) and the presentation of test results. Annex A gives guidance as to the use of practical units for the expression of results. Annex B contains information on errors and classes of measurement accuracy. The measurement accuracy is divided into three classes: A, B and C. Annex C provides a pre-test checklist of those items on which agreement is recommended between the parties concerned.

This International Standard specifies methods for determining, under steady-state conditions, the pressure differential caused by the flow through any given path in a hydraulic fluid power valve. Requirements for test installations, procedures and presentation of results are specified. This International Standard may also be applied to other fluid power components where similar conditions apply. Accuracy of measurement is divided into three classes (A, B and C) which are explained in annex A. Guidance as to the use of practical units for the presentation of results is given in annex C. Annex D provides a pre-test checklist of those items where agreement is recommended between the parties concerned.

This International Standard establishes the preferred range of nominal dimensions and associated tolerances for a series of hydraulic cylinder rod and piston seal housings for reciprocating applications in the following range of dimensions : — for cylinders of 16 to 500 mm; — for rods of 6 to 360 mm. An additional range of seal housings is detailed in this International Standard to meet the reduced envelope requirements of the 160 bar (16 MPa)1) compact series of ISO 6020-2; these smaller section seals require stricter piston rod and cylinder bore tolerances. The ranges of dimensions are as follows : — for cylinders of 25 to 200 mm; — for rods of 12 to 140 mm. It does not give details of seal design, since the manner of construction of seals varies with each manufacturer. The design and material of the seal and any incorporated anti-extrusion component are determined by conditions such as temperature and pressure. This International Standard only applies to the dimensional criteria of products manufactured in conformity with this International Standard; it does not apply to their functional characteristics.
