This test method is intended to provide a means for determining the concentration of argon in sealed insulating glass units under controlled conditions in compliance with the apparatus manufacturer's instructions. This is a non-destructive test method in that the edge seal of the test specimen is not breached in order to determine the argon gas concentration. However, damage to some glass coatings on the inner surfaces of the glass can occur. This test method has been developed based on data collected in a controlled laboratory environment. The device shall be used to determine the argon gas concentration in insulating glass units in a controlled laboratory environment. Refer to 12.3. This test method may be used to determine the argon gas concentration before, during, or after the insulating glass unit is subjected to durability tests. The accuracy of the test method is dependent upon the accuracy of the Spark Emission Spectroscope. When the concentration of the argon being measured is below certain levels, this test method is not applicable. See the spectroscope manufacturer’s literature for recommended levels of accuracy of a given model.1.1 This test method covers procedures for using a spark emission spectroscope to determine the concentration of argon gas in the space between the lites of a sealed insulating glass unit. 1.2 This is a non-destructive test method. 1.3 This test method shall be used only in a controlled laboratory environment. 1.4 This test method is applicable for insulating glass units where argon has been added to the sealed insulating glass cavity and the balance of the gas is atmospheric air. 1.5 This test method is applicable for clear, double-glazed insulating glass units. 1.6 This test method is applicable for double-glazed insulating glass units with one lite having a metallic coating or tinted glass, or both, and with clear glass as the other lite. 1.7 This test method is applicable for triple-glazed insulating glass units only when the center lite of glass has a metallic coating (either low emissivity (low E) or reflective) and both of the other lites are clear glass. 1.8 This test method also includes a procedure for verifying the accuracy of the readings of the test apparatus. 1.9 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to inch-pound units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.10 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. 1.1 These test methods cover the accelerated aging and monitoring of the time-dependent performance of electrochromic glazings. Cross sections of typical electrochromic windows are shown in which devices have four or five-layers of coatings that include the two or three active layers sandwiched between transparent conducting electrodes (TCOs, see Section 3). 1.2 The test methods are applicable only for multilayered (two or more coatings between the TCOs) absorptive electrochromic coatings on sealed insulating glass (IG) units fabricated for vision glass (superstrate and substrate) areas for use in buildings, such as sliding doors, windows, skylights, and exterior wall systems. The multilayers used for electrochromically changing the optical properties may be inorganic or organic materials between the superstrate and substrate. 1.3 The electrochromic coatings used in this test method are exposed to solar radiation and are deployed to control the amount of radiation by absorption and reflection and thus, limit the solar heat gain and amount of solar radiation that is transmitted into the building. 1.4 The test methods are not applicable to other chromogenic devices, such as, photochromic and thermochromic devices. 1.5 The test methods are not applicable to electrochromic devices consisting of three layers of coatings including the two transparent conducting electrodes (see Section 3). 1.6 The test methods are not applicable to electrochromic windows that are constructed from superstrate or substrate materials other than glass. 1.7 The test methods referenced herein are laboratory tests conducted under specified conditions. These tests are intended to simulate and, in some cases, to also accelerate actual in-service use of the electrochromic windows. Results from these tests cannot be used to predict the performance with time of in-service units unless actual corresponding in-service tests have been conducted and appropriate analyses have been conducted to show how performance can be predicted from the accelerated aging tests. 1.8 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. ......

This practice provides a design load suitable for sizing blast resistant glazing comprised of laminated glass or insulating glass fabricated with laminated glass. Blast resistant glazing comprised of laminated glass or insulating glass fabricated with laminated glass shall be sized to resist the 3-second duration equivalent design loading from this standard practice using the procedures described in Practice E1300. Blast resistant glazing comprised of laminated glass or insulating glass fabricated with laminated glass sized using the 3-second design loading determined from this practice will fracture safely in the event of a blast, thus reducing the potential for personal injury, structural and non-structural building damage, and cleanup costs should an explosion occur. In the event a blast loading never occurs to blast resistant glazing comprised of laminated glass or insulating glass fabricated with laminated glass sized using the 3-second duration loading determined herein, the blast resistant glazing will have a probability of breakage less than or equal to 8 lites per 1000 at the first occurrence of a loading equal to the 3-second duration design loading determined herein. Blast resistant glazing designed to resist the 3-second equivalent load as determined herein, properly supported, will perform to minimal hazard as defined in Test Method F1642.1.1 This practice sets forth a method to specify an equivalent 3-second design loading suitable to use with Practice E1300 to select the thickness and type of blast resistant glazing fabricated with laminated glass to glaze a fenestration. Glass plies used to construct laminated glass are recommended to be either annealed or heat strengthened glass. 1.2 This practice applies to blast resistant glazing fabricated using laminated glass only, including single laminated glass and insulating glass fabricated with laminated glass. As a minimum, insulating glass shall use laminated glass for the inboard (protected side) lite. 1.3 This practice assumes that blast resistant glazing shall be adhered to its supporting frame using structural silicone sealant or adhesive glazing tape. The width of the structural silicone sealant bead shall be at least equal to the larger of 10-mm (3/8-in.) or the thickness designation of the glass to which it adheres but not larger than two times the thickness designation of the glass to which it adheres. The minimum thickness of the structural silicone bead shall be 5-mm (3/16-in.). The width of glazing tape shall be at least equal to two times but not more than four times the thickness designation of the glass to which it adheres. The width of silicone or glazing tape is referred to as bite and is shown and discussed in Guide C1564. 1.4 This practice assumes that the structural silicone bead or glazing tape is applied to both sides of single lite laminated glass but need only be applied to the inboard side (protected side) of insulating glass. 1.5 This practice assumes the framing members shall restrict deflections of edges of blast resistant glazing they support to L/60 under 2.0× the load resistance of the blast resistant glazing for inward loading, where L denotes the length of the supported edge. 1.6 This practice assumes the framing system supporting the blast resistant glazing sha......

This British Standard specifies requirements for thermally toughened glass panels for use in domestic appliances where such panels can be exposed to thermal and/or physical shock. Methods of test for fragmentation and for resistance to thermal shock and impact are given in Annexes A , B and C respectively. Recommendations for manufacturers of domestic appliances on the use of glass panels are given in Annex D . Guidance on handling glass is given in Annex E. This British Standard does not specify performance requirements for glass panels in respect of abrasion or chemical resistance.

6.1 This test method is based on field experience rather than laboratory analysis. It provides a basis for the comparative evaluation of ballistic/forced entry/containment resistance of security glazings and systems and should not be used to establish or confirm the absolute prevention of forcible entries or forced exits. This test method defines three factors which determine the success or failure of any attempt to forcefully enter (or exit) the glazing or system. They are: (1) the tools employed, (2) the techniques and methods used by the attackers, and (3) the total time available to effect the entry or exit. This test method defines two of the three factors (tools and techniques) and allows the third (duration) to vary in order to establish levels of forced entry or exit resistance. 1.1 This test method sets forth procedures whose purpose is limited to the evaluation of the resistance of security glazing materials and systems against the following threats: 1.1.1 Ballistic Impact, 1.1.2 Blunt Tool Impacts, 1.1.3 Sharp Tool Impacts, 1.1.4 Thermal Stress, and 1.1.5 Chemical Deterioration. Note 1—Specifically exempted from this test method are the use of power (motor or engine-driven) tools or devices, explosives, military ordinance (excepting small arms) and tools, processes or devices requiring more than two persons to transport and operate. 1.2 The values stated in inch-pounds are to be regarded as the standard.
