This clause of Part 1 is replaced by the following. This part of IEC 60335 deals with the safety of electric kitchen machines for household and similar purposes@ their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. NOTE 101 Examples of appliances that are within the scope of this standard are ?C bean slicers; ?C berry-juice extractors; ?C blenders; ?C can openers; ?C centrifugal juicers; ?C churns; ?C citrus-fruit squeezers; ?C coffee mills not exceeding 500 g hopper capacity; ?C cream whippers; ?C egg beaters; ?C food mixers; ?C food processors; ?C grain grinders not exceeding 3 l hopper capacity; ?C graters; ?C ice-cream machines@ including those for use in refrigerators and freezers; ?C knife sharpeners; ?C knives; ?C mincers; ?C noodle makers; ?C potato peelers; ?C shredders; ?C sieving machines; ?C slicing machines. Appliances intended for normal household and similar use and that may also be used by laymen in shops@ in light industry and on farms@ are within the scope of this standard. However@ if the appliance is intended to be used professionally to process food for commercial consumption@ the appliance is not considered to be for household and similar use only. NOTE 102 Use of a kitchen machine in bed and breakfast premises@ for example@ is considered to be household use. As far as is practicable@ this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances which are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However@ in general@ it does not take into account ?C persons (including children) whose ? physical@ sensory or mental capabilities; or ? lack of experience and knowledge prevents them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction; ?C children playing with the appliance. NOTE 103 Attention is drawn to the fact that ?C for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft@ additional requirements may be necessary; ?C in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities@ the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and similar authorities. NOTE 104 This standard does not apply to ?C slicing machines having a circular knife the blade of which is inclined at an angle exceeding 45??o the vertical; ?C food waste disposers (IEC 60335-2-16); ?C ice-cream appliances with incorporated motor compressors (IEC 60335-2-24); ?C kitchen machines intended for commercial purposes (IEC 60335-2-64); ?C kitchen machines intended for industrial purposes; ?C kitchen machines intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail@ such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust@ vapour or gas).

This European Standard specifies requirements and test conditions of machines for processing Artisan Gelato, ice cream and similar frozen desserts. It defines machines performance characteristics and energy consumption, measured under specified conditions and test methods, using a reference test mix. This European Standard applies to professional machines having a maximum capacity of 400 l, for thermal-treatment of Artisan Gelato, ice cream and similar frozen desserts listed as follows: - pasteurizers; - ageing vats; - cream cookers; - batch freezers; - combined machines. The machine can be factory assembled or field connected to a remote condensing unit. The machine can include separate remote refrigeration systems for the frozen product and fresh mix and can be either air-cooled or water-cooled.

This International Standard deals with: the safety of microwave ovens with a cavity door intended for commercial use@ their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances connected between one phase and neutral and 480 V for other appliances; the safety of combination microwave ovens with a cavity door@ the requirements for which are contained in Annex AA; the safety of microwave ovens without a cavity door and with transportation means that are intended for commercial use only@ for the heating of food and beverages@ the requirements for which are contained in Annex BB. Microwave ovens covered by Annex BB have transportation means for moving the load through the microwave oven. Requirements for tunnel microwave ovens and several types of microwave vending machines are covered. This standard also deals with microwave ovens intended to be used on board ships@ for which Annex EE is applicable. NOTE 101 In Annex BB@ a microwave oven without a cavity door and with transportation means is described as a microwave oven. All clauses of this standard apply to these appliances unless otherwise specified in Annex BB. This international standard also takes into account ordinary persons having access to the removing area of the vending machine. NOTE 102 The appliance may be built into a vending machine@ in which case IEC 60335-2-75 may also be applicable. NOTE 103 Appliances that use non-electrical energy are within the scope of this standard. In general@ this standard does not take into account ?C the use of appliances by young children or infirm persons without supervision; ?C playing with the appliance by young children. This international standard does not take into account the use of a microwave oven without a cavity door and with transportation means by ordinary persons except in the vicinity of entrance and exit ports.
