Scope
This standard stipulates how to design some test methods to check whether the bit stream and decoder meet the requirements set out in Parts 1, 2 and 3 of GB/T 17191. Decoders are not specified in this standard. An encoder, if the bit stream it produces is consistent with the syntax and semantics of the bit stream required in Parts 1, 2, and 3 of GB/T 17191, it can be called a GB/T 17191 encoder. Parts 1, 2, and 3 of GB/T 17191 specify the characteristics of coded bit streams and decoders. The properties of bitstreams specify a subset of the developed bitstream standards. Examples of this are applicable values or ranges of picture dimensions and bit rate parameters. The characteristics of a decoder define the performance and capabilities of the decoding process employed. An example of its performance is applied arithmetic precision. Decoder capabilities specify the coded bitstream that the decoder can decode and reconstruct, and it defines a subset of a decodable bitstream standard. A coded bitstream can be decoded by a decoder if its characteristics are within the standard subset specified by the decoder's capabilities. This standard describes the conformance test procedures between the bit stream and decoder and the requirements specified in Parts 1, 2 and 3 of GB/T 17191. Given a claimed set of properties, it must fully comply with the requirements specified in Parts 1, 2, and 3 of GB/T 17191. This standard summarizes some requirements cross-referenced with characteristics and specifies conformance that can be tested. Guidelines are given for how to set up tests and determine their results, as well as some practical tests applied to audio.
