This section gives a standard test method procedure for determining the ability of components, equipment and other products (hereinafter referred to as samples) to withstand sinusoidal vibrations of specified severity. The purpose of this test is to determine the mechanical weakness of the sample and (or) the reduction of characteristics. Use these data, in conjunction with relevant specifications, to determine whether samples are acceptable. In some cases, this test method may be used to demonstrate the mechanical structural integrity of samples and/or to study their dynamic characteristics. Components may also be rated according to their ability to withstand different levels of severity of the test.
