Scope
This part of GB 12476 specifies two test methods for determining the minimum ignition temperature of dust. This section does not apply to substances with pyrotechnic properties. Method A (Chapter 4) is suitable for determining the minimum decomposition temperature and/or minimum ignition temperature that will result in deposition on specified hot surfaces at a specified dust layer thickness. The method is particularly suitable for dust present as a thin dust layer on hot surfaces of industrial equipment exposed to the environment. Method B (Chapter 5) is suitable for determining the lowest temperature that will cause a dust cloud or other solid particulate sample to ignite for the specified sample. This test is an additional test performed after the minimum ignition temperature of the dust layer determined by method A of this part.
