Scope
This section applies to surge protectors (hereinafter referred to as SPD--Surge protective device) that protect telecommunications and signal networks that are directly or indirectly affected by lightning or other transient overvoltages. The purpose of these SPDs is to protect modern electronic equipment connected to telecommunication and signaling networks with system nominal voltages up to 1 000 V (RMS) AC and 1 500 V DC.
