This part of IEC 61076 describes M12 circular connectors with two data pairs and power contacts with current ratings up to 12 A, that are typically used for data and power applications in industrial premises. These connectors consist of both fixed and free connectors either rewireable or non rewireable, with screw-locking. Male connectors have round contacts diameters of 1,50 mm, 1,00 mm and 0,60 mm. The different codings provided by this document prevent the mating of accordingly coded male or female connectors to any other similarly sized interfaces covered by other standards and the cross-mating between the different codings provided by this document. NOTE M12 is the dimension of the thread of the screw locking mechanism of these circular connectors.

This part of 60309 applies to a single type of plug, socket-outlet, ship connector and ship inlet, hereinafter referred to as accessories, intended to connect ships to dedicated shore supply systems described in IEC/IEEE 80005-3. This part of IEC 60309 applies to three-phase accessories with an earth contact and with four pilot contacts. NOTE 1 In the following countries the term "ground" is used instead of "earth": US. These accessories have a maximum rated current of 350 A and a maximum rated operating voltage not exceeding 690 V 50/60 Hz. NOTE 2 The various operating currents, voltages and frequencies required for various types of ship are set by the shore supply system described in IEC/IEEE 80005-3. These accessories are intended to be installed and operated by instructed persons (IEC 60050-195:1998, Amendment 1:2001, 195-04-02) or skilled persons (IEC 60050-195:1998, Amendment 1:2001, 195-04-01) only. This standard applies to accessories for primary use outdoors in a seawater environment when the ambient temperature is normally within the range of -25 °C to +40 °C. NOTE 3 In some countries, other ambient temperatures may prevail and may need to be taken into account. These accessories are intended to be connected to cables of copper or copper alloy only. Socket-outlets or ship inlets incorporated in or fixed to electrical equipment which is part of the shore connection system are within the scope of this standard. In locations where special conditions prevail, for example where explosions are liable to occur, additional requirements may be necessary.

1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for copper alloy strip for use in the manufacture of electrical connectors or spring contacts produced from one of the following Copper Alloy UNS Nos.2: C14530, C15100, C15500, C17000, C17200, C17410, C17450, C17460, C17500, C17510, C19002, C19010, C19015, C19025, C19210, C19400, C19500, C19700, C23000, C26000, C40810, C40850, C40860, C42200, C42500, C42520, C42600, C50580, C50780, C51000, C51080, C51100, C51180, C51980, C52100, C52180, C52480, C63800, C64725, C65400, C68800, C70250, C70260, C70265, C70310, C70350, C75200, and C76200. 1.2 The requirements for the other copper alloys such as copper-nickel-tin spinodal, UNS C72650, C72700, and C72900, shall be as prescribed in the current edition of Specification B740. 1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. 1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: Replacement: Replace the first paragraph with the following: This part of IEC 62735, which is a technical specification, applies to plugs and fixed socket- outlets for class I equipment with two active contacts plus an earthing contact, a rated power of 5,2 kW and a rated voltage range from 294 V to 400 V d.c. They are intended to power d.c. information and communication technology equipment only. The 2,6 kW system complying with Part 1 is safely compatible with the system complying with this part as it is possible to insert the 2,6 kW plug in the 5,2 kW socket-outlet but it is not possible to insert the 5,2 kW plug into the 2,6 kW socket-outlet. Replace the third paragraph with the following: The maximum current for the plug and the socket-outlet is 13 A when the voltage between live contacts is 400 V d.c; 17,6 A when the voltage between live contacts is 294 V d.c. and can rise up to 20 A when the voltage between live contacts decreases to 260 V d.c. for 10 min maximum. Replace, in the 6th paragraph, the second dash with; an overcurrent protection (of 17,6 A or less for each socket-outlet or multiple socket- outlet).
