This part of IEC 62287 specifies the minimum operational and performance requirements, methods of testing and required test results for Class B shipborne automatic identification system (AIS) equipment using carrier-sense time division multiple access (CSTDMA) techniques. This document takes into account other associated IEC International Standards and existing national standards, as applicable. It is applicable for AIS equipment used on craft that are not covered by the mandatory carriage requirement of AIS under SOLAS Chapter V. An AIS station intended to operate in receive-only mode is not considered a Class B shipborne mobile AIS station.

This part of IEC 62287 specifies operational and performance requirements, methods of testing and required test results for Class B "SO" shipborne automatic identifications system (AIS) equipment using self-organising time division multiple access (SOTDMA) techniques as described in Recommendation ITU-R M.1371. This document takes into account other associated IEC International Standards and existing national standards, as applicable. The main differences between Class B "CS" (IEC 62287-1) and Class B "SO" units are that the Class B "SO" covers all 25 kHz channels listed in Recommendation ITU-R M.1084-5; only uses the internal GNSS - no position sensor input is allowed; requires use of VDL Message 17 for correction of the internal GNSS; requires a presentation interface; has additional reporting intervals, down to 5 s; has two power settings, with a high level of 5 W, and; has the capability to transmit binary messages. This document is applicable to AIS equipment used on craft that are not covered by a mandatory carriage requirement of AIS under SOLAS Chapter V.

This International Standard specifies the performance requirements, methods of testing and required test results of equipment conforming to performance standards not inferior to those adopted by the IMO in resolution MSC.232(82). This standard is based upon the performance standards of IMO resolution MSC.232(82), and is also associated with IMO resolution A.694(17) and IEC 60945. Reference is made, where appropriate, to IMO resolution MSC.232(82), and all subclauses whose wording is identical to that in the resolution are printed in italics. In association with the above IMO resolution MSC.232(82), are the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) publications1. IHO S-32, IHO S-52, IHO S-57, IHO S-61, IHO S-63 and IHO S-64. This standard has included extracts from the above publications where they are applicable to this equipment. Where reference is made, all subclauses whose wording is identical to that in the publications, are printed in italics. (232/A2.1) These performance standards should apply to all ECDIS equipment carried on all ships as follows: dedicated standalone workstation; a multifunction workstation as part of an INS. (232/A2.2) These performance standards apply to ECDIS mode of operation, ECDIS in RCDS mode of operation as specified in Annex G and ECDIS backup arrangements as specified in Annex F. (232/A2.3) Requirements for structure and format of the chart data, encryption of chart data as well as the presentation of chart data are within the scope of relevant IHO standards, including those listed in the normative references. The requirements of this standard are not intended to prevent the use of new techniques in equipment and systems, provided the facilities offered are not inferior to those stated.

This part of IEC 61162 is an add-on to the IEC 61162-450 standard where higher safety and security standards are needed, e. g. due to higher exposure to external threats or to improve network integrity. This standard provides requirements and test methods for equipment to be used in an IEC 61162-460 compliant network as well as requirements for the network itself and requirements for interconnection from the network to other networks. This standard also contains requirements for a redundant IEC 61162-460 compliant network. This standard extends the informative guidance given in Annex D of IEC 61162-450:2011. It does not introduce new application level protocol requirements to those that are defined in IEC 61162-450.

This International Standard specifies the construction, performance, type testing, and inspection for a ship borne marine facsimile receiver that receives meteorological charts transmitted by “Facsimile transmission of meteorological chart over radio circuits” stated in accordance with World Meteorological Organization (WMO) publication No. 386, Part III-5. This International Standard applies to ship borne radio facsimile receivers for the reception of meteorological charts and other graphical representation of meteorological conditions intended as an aid to navigation at sea.
