This document recommends design criteria for the flight deck Final Approach Spacing System (FASS). The FASS is a combination of hardware and software that is required to perform the Final Approach Spacing Function. The FASS is designed to enhance the operational efficiency of flight by providing the crew with a means to obtain a precise aircraft-to-aircraft arrival interval at the runway threshold during instrument approach operations. The FASS provides operationally acceptable speed guidance, appropriate crew alerting, and must be highly reliable and thoroughly responsive to the operational requirements and environment.

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) provides methodologies and approaches that have been used to install and integrate full-authority-digital-engine-control (FADEC) systems on transport category aircraft. Although the information provided is based on turbofan engines installed on large commercial transports, many of the issues raised are equally applicable to corporate, general aviation, regional and commuter aircraft, and to military installations, particularly when commercial aircraft are employed by military users. The word ?engine? is used to designate the aircraft propulsion system. The engine station designations used in this report are shown in Figure 1. Most of the material concerns an Electronic Engine Control (EEC) with its associated software, and its functional integration with the aircraft. However, the report also addresses the physical environment associated with the EEC and its associated wiring and sensors. Since most of today?s transport category engines use dual-channel full-authority digital engine control (FADEC) systems, this is the configuration which is primarily addressed. A typical FADEC system configuration is shown in Figure 2. Special considerations that pertain to single-channel FADEC systems or limited authority ?supervisory? control systems are also addressed.

The objective of this ARP is to provide a set of user-centered design guidelines for the implementation of data driven electronic aeronautical charts, which dynamically create charts from a database of individual elements. The data driven chart is intended to provide information required to navigate, but it is not intended to supplant the aircraft?s primary navigation display. These guidelines seek to provide a balance between standardization of equipment with similar intended functions and individual manufacturer innovation. This ARP provides guidelines for the display of an electronic chart that can replace existing paper. This document addresses what information is required, when it is required, and how it should be displayed and controlled. This document does not include all the detailed specifications required to generate an electronic aeronautical chart. This document primarily addresses the human factors aspects of electronic chart display, and does not address the software, hardware or system integrity/availability issues associated with certification of an electronic chart system. During the transition to data driven charts, the guidelines of this document should be applied to interim electronic chart products that may be pre-composed, such as vector or raster based electronic charts. This document is designed primarily for IFR Aeronautical Charts. There is a limited discussion of its applicability to VFR charts.

This standard specifies the characteristics of aeronautical ground lighting series transformers (AGLST) used in aeronautical ground lighting for 6,6 A series circuits, at a service voltage of up to 5 kV, supplied by constant current regulators up to 30 kVA in rating. AGL series transformers provide power to airport lighting luminaires or other loads (resistive) from their secondary circuits. The AGL series transformers provide continuity of the series circuit in the event of a loss of the load on the transformer, and electrical isolation between the primary circuit supplied by a constant current regulator, and the secondary circuit connected to the load under conditions defined in this standard. An AGL series transformer is be able to withstand a permanent short or open-circuit secondary series circuit. Specifications for similar series transformers intended for any primary or secondary currents other than 6,6 A, or to supply alternative voltages, constant power, reactive loads, etc., are not included in this standard.

This International Standard specifies the requirements for a Constant Current Regulator (CCR) having a nominal output of 6,6 A for use in an aeronautical ground lighting constant current series circuit. However CCRs may be manufactured which have a different power rating (kVA) and current steps than those specified in this standard Text deleted. This standard shall be applied where appropriate for these CCRs.
