Aspects of safety that have no direct bearing on contamination control are not considered in this part of ISO 14644 and national and local safety regulations must be observed. This document considers all classes of cleanrooms used to produce all types of products. Therefore, it is broad in application and does not address specific requirements for individual industries. Sampling of decorated glass containers for the TCLP can vary greatly, resulting from the size and shape of the article relative to the amount of ceramic decoration on the ware. Breaking the glass can cause some of the pieces to have no decoration on them, and others to be heavily decorated and more likely to leach lead and cadmium under the TCLP test. This method provides an effective tool to homogenize the glass containers so that reproducible results can be attained from the TCLP test.1.1 This test method defines the way in which container glassware should be prepared before performing the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP). This part of ISO 14644 covers the classification of air cleanliness in cleanrooms and associated controlled environments exclusively in terms of concentration of airborne particles. Only particle populations having cumulative distributions based on threshold (lower limit) sizes ranging from 0, 1 ?m to 5 ?m are considered for classification purposes. This part of ISO 14644 does not provide for classification of particle populations that are outside of the specified particle size range, 0, 1 ?m to 5 ?m. Concentrations of ultrafine particles (particles smaller than 0, 1 ?m) and macroparticles (particles larger than 5 ?m) may be used to quantify these populations in terms of U descriptors and M descriptors, respectively. This part of ISO 14644 cannot be used to characterize the physical, chemical, radiological, or viable nature of airborne particles. Note: The actual distribution of particle concentrations within incremental size ranges normally is not predictable and typically is variable over time.
