This part of BS 8204 gives recommendations for the design and installation of in situ synthetic resin flooring, based on liquid synthetic resin binders in which curing takes place by chemical reaction of the resin components, used internally in buildings. The synthetic resin floorings are bonded to direct finished concrete slabs, polymer-modified cementitious or fine concrete screeds and to existing concrete floors. Annex A gives recommendations for the design and installation of resin terrazzo flooring. Synthetic resin floorings applied to other materials such as timber or metal are not covered by this code of practice. The installation of resilient sports surfacings based on synthetic resins is not covered by this code of practice.

This European Standard specifies characteristics, states requirements and references test methods for laminate floor coverings with a directly applied printing and resin surface layer. It includes a classification system, based on EN 685, providing practical requirements for areas of use and levels of use, to indicate where laminate floor coverings will give satisfactory service and to encourage the consumer to make an informed choice. It also specifies requirements for marking and packaging. Laminate floor coverings are considered for domestic and commercial levels of use. This standard does not specify requirements relating to areas that are subject to frequent wetting, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms or saunas, but it does apply to domestic kitchens.

This British Standard specifies requirements for the design, fabrication and performance of windows and glazed doorsets made from PVC-U extruded hollow profiles. This British Standard applies to windows and doorsets manufactured from PVC-U hollow profiles incorporating fusion welded corner joints. It applies to windows and doors fabricated into frames in a factory, to be installed vertically (within 15°) into the external face of buildings, as single or multi-light units, in coupled assemblies when appropriate, of the following types: a) windows: 1) hinged: side-hung (open in or out), top-hung (open out), bottom-hung (open in), tilt and turn or turn before tilt; 2) projecting: side-hung (open in or open out) and top-hung (open out or reversible); 3) pivoted: horizontal and vertical (hung centrally or off-centre) including reversible; 4) sliding: horizontal and vertical; 5) side-hung: fully reversible; 6) fixed light; b) doors: 1) single leaf single-swing doors with or without side lights and top panels; 2) double leaf single-swing doors with or without side lights and top panels. It is applicable to assemblies in which any frame member is not longer than 3 m. It does not apply to curtain walls that span across horizontal structural members of floors but is applicable to windows within a curtain walling system. It is applicable to assemblies up to the point of installation. NOTE Guidance on the evaluation of conformity is given in Annex A. Guidance on durability and recycling is given in Annex B.

1.1 This specification covers polyolefin-based plastic lumber products for use as exterior residential decking boards.1.2 Plastic lumber products are currently made predominantly with recycled polyolefin plastics (in particular high-density polyethylene) where the products are more or less non-homogenous in the cross-section. However, this specification is also potentially applicable to similar manufactured plastic products made from other plastic and plastic composite materials that have non-homogenous cross-sections.1.3 This specification details a procedure to calculate recommended span lengths for spacing of support joists. This procedure was developed using experimental data from a typical unreinforced plastic lumber made predominantly from recycled high-density polyethylene. The methodology to develop span lengths for other types and compositions of plastic lumber is detailed in Appendix X1 of this standard.1.4 The values are stated in inch-pound units, as these are currently the most common units used by the construction industry. Equivalent SI units are indicated in parentheses. The impact strength values obtained on the flat sections of a building product profile are relevant only to the flat section that has been tested and these values do not necessarily indicate the impact resistance of the whole product, which is affected by the configuration of the profile (that is, corners, ribs, etc). Constant weight and variable height, employed in these test methods, allow the velocity of impact to vary and, therefore, by Procedure B, can determine the energy of ductile-to-brittle transition, which cannot be determined if a variable weight is dropped from a constant height. These test procedures have been found to be useful elements in rigid poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) building product characterization. Compound qualification, finished product quality control, environmental and weatherability research and development studies, and fabrication tolerance prediction constitute useful applications. Choice of the specific impactor head configuration used is related to a variety of product attributes, such as specimen thickness and product toughness as well as abstract factors, such as the anticipated mode of failure in a specific application. The geometric uniqueness of the impactor head configurations prevents any comparison or correlation of testing results on samples tested with differing impactor head configurations. In general, the conical impactor, C.125, is useful to ensure failure of thicker specimens where the H.25 impactor caused no failure. Note 28212;Equivalent surface conditions are more likely to occur when specimens are prepared by compression molding or extrusion than by injection molding. When comparing different samples tested with the same impactor head configuration, impact resistance shall be permitted to be normalized for average specimen thickness over a reasonably broad range (for example, 1 to 3 mm).3 However, this should only be done when the surface conditions listed in 6.1 are essentially equivalent.
