This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) considers the following major areas: 1. major components and their ratings, 2. selection criteria for optimum design balance for electrical systems, 3. effects of operating conditions and environment on both maintenance and life of components, and 4. trouble signals--their diagnosis and cure. Electrical Systems Engineering is the modern concept of integrating load requirements with generator/alternator and battery capacity and regarding this electrical equipment as a complete system rather than a collection of independent units. The old adage ""a chain is not stronger than its weakest link"" is particularly valid

3.1 General descriptions for the manual sampling of petroleum products are given in Practice D4057. However, a number of aviation fuel properties are established or affected by trace levels of polar or other compounds. Measurement significance therefore requires that the sample containers not add or adsorb any materials. This practice presents types and preparations of sampling containers found satisfactory for the determination of water separation, copper corrosion, electrical conductivity, thermal stability, lubricity, and trace metal content. An approval procedure for new containers is also given. 3.2 Two properties, particulate contamination and free water content, involve materials easily removed by any sampling container. These properties should be determined by placing the sample directly into the measuring apparatus and not using containers to transport the sample to the measuring equipment. 3.3 Recommendations in this practice provide guidance for immediate use and for storage of samples. Immediate use involves sample storage for periods less than 24 h. 1.1 This practice2 covers the types of and preparation of containers found most suitable for the handling of aviation fuel samples for the determination of critical properties affected by trace contamination. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For specific warning statements, see 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, and 5.6.

This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) describes the dimensions, design, layout, performance, and capability of a towbarless tow vehicle (TLTV), mainly used for push-back operation on the nose gear. This tow vehicle will basically be used for aircraft listed in 1.3. Overall design of the unit is to allo operations under climatic conditions as stated under 5.1 and safe operations during day and nigh conditions on airpo

The main purpose of this test was to determine the application advantages of cushion tow hitches in comparison to the commonly used rigid tow hitch type fitted on heavy aircraft towing tractors. As diverse opinions emerged about its suitability since the introduction on the market of this new tow hitch type, it was intended to physically measure and evaluate the damping capability of this cushioned tow link when applied in p

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) defines interface configurations for the ground air conditioning service connection on commercial transport aircraft. In addition, it defines the clearances required to accommodate the connection of ground air conditioning hose couplings. Two types of service connections are included. The Type A connection is a slotted ring with integral locking pads and is comparable to the MS33562 connection. The Type B connection is a flanged tube with external locking lugs. The Type B connection has the same interface dimensional requirements as the Type A connection. The purpose of this document is to establish uniform interface configu

The present Aerospace Recommended Practice specifies for airplane operator and tow vehicle manufacturers the basic testing requirements for towbarless tow vehicles to be used on the nose gear of conventional tricycle type landing gears of commercial civil transport aircraft with maximum ramp weight between 8600 kg (19 000 lb) and 50 000 kg (110 000 lb), commonly designated as "regional aircraft". Its purpose is to achieve testing results, or equivalent computer modeling, demonstrating that the loads induced by the tow vehicle will not exceed the design loads of the airplane's nose landing gear and associated structure, reduce the certified safe life limit of the nose landing gear, or otherwise compromise the airplane's structural integrity and airworthiness certification. This document is intended to be applicable to all towbarless tow vehicles to be used for push-back and maintenance towing of commercial airplanes in the specified range. See Section 3 hereafter. It is not intended to apply to tow vehicles used for airplane operational (dispatch) towing.

This International Standard specifies the functional and performance requirements for a self-propelled container/pallet loader capable of raising air cargo unit load devices (ULDs) to the upper deck of very large capacity freighter (VLCF) aircraft and also to the main deck of any main-line freighter aircraft. This International Standard does not intend to provide all the design requirements applicable for aircraft upperdeck loaders. Other requirements can be found in separate standards which are also applicable: — equipment intended for handling and loading of baggage and cargo ULDs; — to all aircraft ground support equipment. The requirements of this International Standard were determined based on generally recognized assumptions as to: a) the normally intended use of aircraft ground support equipment, when used on the ramp of international civil airports in order to handle, service or maintain civil transport aircraft; b) the environmental (surface, slope, weather, lighting, operating rules, traffic infrastructure, staff qualification, etc.) conditions prevailing on the ramp area of the majority of international civil airports. It is assumed that the manufacturers of aircraft upper-deck loaders define in the relevant documentation the specifically intended conditions of use and environment for each model, and that the purchasers systematically review their own specific conditions of use and environment in order to determine whether those stated are adequate, or negotiate with the manufacturer appropriate modifications to ensure they are. This International Standard does not specify requirements applicable to: — any adapters or ancillary/supplemental equipment additions to in-service main-deck loaders in order to allow their occasional upper-deck use; — any main-deck loaders fitted with optional access to upper-deck height of the front platform only
