This part is the basic standard of EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility). It deals with immunity tests of electrical and/or electronic devices (equipment and systems) in their electromagnetic environment. Concerns only conducted phenomena, including the immunity of equipment connected to public and industrial networks. The purpose of this standard is to establish a reference for the evaluation of the immunity of electrical and/or electronic devices when subjected to unbalanced supply voltages. This part applies to electrical and/or electronic devices with 50Hz three-phase power supply and rated line current of each phase below 16A. If the three-phase equipment is operated as a set of single-phase loads connected between phase and neutral, this standard does not apply to such three-phase plus neutral equipment. This section does not apply to electrical and/or electronic devices connected to AC 400Hz distribution networks. Tests involving these networks are included in other IEC standards. This section does not include tests for zero-sequence imbalance factors. The special electromagnetic environment and its performance indicators required by the immunity test level are given by the product, the product series or the applicable general standards. This immunity test shall be covered by the product, the product family or the applicable general standard if the performance of the equipment may be degraded when subjected to a voltage unbalanced supply voltage. The reliability verification and long-term effects (up to several minutes) of electrical components (such as capacitors, motors, etc.) are not considered in this part.
