Scope

551.1.1.1 This section applies to low-voltage and extra-low-voltage electrical installations equipped with generating equipment for continuously or occasionally supplying all or part of the installation. The requirements set out in this section take into account electrical installations that are supplied in the following ways: - supply electrical equipment that is not connected to the public grid; - supply electrical equipment as an alternative power source to the utility grid; - supply electrical installations that operate in parallel with the utility grid Power supply; - Appropriate combination of the above methods. This part does not apply to extra-low voltage electrical equipment which itself contains both power supply and electrical load, and such equipment already has special product standards that include various requirements for electrical safety. Note I: See IEC 60364-5-56 for special requirements on emergency power supply. Note 2: Before installing power generation equipment in electrical installations connected to the public grid, the requirements of the public grid management department should be clearly understood. 551.1.1.2 Consider power generating equipment using the following power sources: — internal combustion engines; — steam turbines; — electric motors; — photovoltaic cells; — electrochemical batteries; — other suitable power sources. 551.1.1.3 Consider generating equipment having the following electrical properties: - synchronous generators with mains excitation and independent excitation; - asynchronous generators with main excitation and self-excitation; - static inverters with mains commutation and self-commutation Inverter, the static inverter with or without bypass equipment. 551.1.1.4 Generating equipment is considered for the following purposes: - supplying permanent electrical installations; - supplying temporary electrical installations; - supplying mobile equipment not connected to permanently fixed electrical installations.
