The special requirements of this standard apply to wiring systems for furniture (and similar furniture) connected to electrical installations. For example: beds, cabinets, tables and shop display cabinets equipped with electrical equipment such as lamps, sockets, switching appliances, and wiring systems. The requirements of this standard apply to furniture connected to the electrical installations of the building by fixed wiring, and also to finished furniture and furniture powered by socket outlets at hand, unless such furniture is otherwise specified in other national standards. The electrical equipment in the furniture should be connected to a single-phase power supply line not greater than 240V, and the total load current should not exceed 16A. These requirements do not apply to electrical appliances and electrical equipment specified in other national standards specially designed to be installed in furniture, for example: radios, televisions, refrigerators incorporated in furniture to facilitate connection to the building's electrical installations through sockets at hand and lab table. In some special places, other special requirements may need to be met.
