This standard specifies the requirements for overcurrent protection of live conductors. This section explains how the live conductors are protected by one or more electrical appliances to automatically cut off the power supply in the event of overload (see 433) and short circuit (see 434), but for those who have restricted the overcurrent according to the provisions of 436, in 433.3 ( omission of overload protective devices) or where the conditions specified in 434.3 (omission of short-circuit protective devices) are met. This section also includes coordination between overload protection and short-circuit protection (see 435).
