This part specifies the product safety requirements for measuring relays and protective devices with a rated AC voltage up to 1000 V and a rated frequency up to 65 Hz, or a rated DC voltage up to 1500 V. The equipment above this limit should be determined by GB 311.1 and GB 311.2 for its electrical clearance, creepage distance and withstand test voltage. This section details the basic safety requirements to minimize the risk of fire, electric shock or injury to the user. This standard does not include safety requirements for installation, including installation and use of equipment in cabinets, racks and panels and all manner of retesting. This standard also applies to auxiliary devices used and tested only with star relays and protective devices, such as shunts, series resistors, transformers, etc. Auxiliary equipment used in conjunction with measuring relays and protective devices may be subject to additional safety requirements. This section only specifies the safety requirements of the product and therefore does not address the functional characteristics of the equipment. Functional safety requirements including EMC are not included in this standard, nor is functional safety risk analysis within the scope of this standard. This section does not specify how to implement a single device or circuit and components. This part aims to provide a comprehensive standard covering all aspects of product safety issues of measuring relays and protective devices, as well as related type tests and routine tests.
