Scope
This part of GB/T 11918 specifies the technical requirements for the structure, mechanical performance and electrical performance of industrial plug sockets and couplers. This standard applies to plugs and socket-outlets, cable couplers and appliance couplers with a rated working voltage not exceeding 1 000 V dc or ac and 500 Hz ac and a rated current not exceeding 800 A, intended primarily for industrial purposes, for indoor and outdoor use . These accessories are only intended to be installed by trained [electrical] personnel (GB/T 2900.73-2008, definition 195-04-02) or skilled [electrical] technicians (GB/T 2900.73-2008, definition 195-04-01) use. The listing of preferred ratings is not intended to exclude other ratings. This section applies to plugs and sockets, cable couplers and appliance couplers (hereinafter referred to as electrical accessories) used when the ambient temperature is usually in the range of -25 ℃ to + 40 ℃. These electrical accessories are intended to be connected only with copper or copper alloy cables. This standard applies to electrical accessories with a rated current not higher than 32 A in series I and 30 A in series II, with screwless terminals or insulation-piercing terminals. Use of these electrical accessories on construction sites, or for agricultural, commercial or domestic use is not excluded. Sockets or appliance inlets installed in or fixed to electrical equipment are within the scope of this standard. This standard also applies to electrical accessories intended for use in extra-low voltage installations. This section does not apply to electrical accessories for main home use and similar general purposes. In special places, such as on board ships or places prone to explosion, there may be additional requirements.
