1.1 This practice2 covers a procedure for detecting discontinuities in metal pipe and tubing during a volumetric examination using ultrasonic methods. Specific techniques of the ultrasonic method to which this practice applies include pulse-reflection techniques, both contact and non-contact (for example, as described in Guide E1774 and Practice E1816), and angle beam immersion techniques, both conventional and phased array. Artificial reflectors consisting of longitudinal, and, when specified by the using party or parties, transverse reference notches placed on the surfaces of a reference standard are employed as the primary means of standardizing the ultrasonic system. 1.2 This practice is intended for use with tubular products having outside diameters approximately 1⁄2 in. (12.7 mm) and larger, provided that the examination parameters comply with and satisfy the requirements of Section 11. These procedures have been successful with smaller sizes. These may be specified upon contractual agreement between the using parties. These procedures are intended to ensure that proper beam angles and beam shapes are used to provide full volume coverage of pipes and tubes, including those with low ratios of outside diameter-to-wall thickness, and to avoid spurious signal responses when examining small-diameter, thin-wall tubes. 1.3 The procedure in Annex A1 is applicable to pipe and tubing used in nuclear and other special and safety applications. The procedure in Annex A2 may be used to determine the helical scan pitch. 1.4 This practice does not establish acceptance criteria; they must be specified by the using party or parties. 1.5 Units—The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This document specifies a computation method used to determine the length of the ductile iron pipes to be restrained, when used for conveying raw water, drinking water, sewerage under pressure. This computation method takes into account all common pipeline route changes, including changes in the diameter of the pipeline itself and dead ends at the extremity of the pipeline, the outside diameter of the pipe, the system test pressure (to estimate the thrust), depth of cover, the characteristics of the soil surrounding the pipe and trench backfilling methods for a worldwide usage. The characteristics of the restrained joint are not covered by this document but can also be considered to determine the restraining length using any appropriate method. The computation method defined in this document is applicable to all types of restrained joint systems, with their operating pressure ratings of ductile iron pipelines complying with ISO 2531, ISO 7186 and NOTE 1 ISO 10804 deals with actual design of the joint for various operating pressures of the pipeline. NOTE 2 National standards or established calculation methods can be used instead of this ISO standard.

1.1 This specification2 covers several grades of minimumwall-thickness, seamless and welded, carbon and alloy-steel tubes intended for use at low temperatures. Some product sizes may not be available under this specification because heavier wall thicknesses have an adverse affect on low-temperature impact properties. 1.2 Supplementary Requirement S1 of an optional nature is provided. This shall apply only when specified by the purchaser. NOTE 1—For tubing smaller than 1⁄2 in. [12.7 mm] in outside diameter, the elongation values given for strip specimens in Table 1 shall apply. Mechanical property requirements do not apply to tubing smaller than 1⁄8 in. [3.2 mm] in outside diameter and with a wall thickness under 0.015 in. [0.4 mm]. 1.3 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification. The inch-pound units shall apply unless the “M” designation of this specification is specified in the order. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This specification covers factory-made plastic-lined ferrous metal pipe, fittings, and flanges intended primarily for conveying corrosive fluids. Requirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions, design, fabrication, working pressure and temperatures, test methods, qualification requirements, and markings are included. 1.1.1 This specification does not define the suitability of different liner materials to various chemical and operating environments. Refer to the manufacturer’s chemical resistance data for suitability recommendations. 1.1.2 This specification does not include products coated with plastics. 1.2 This specification covers plastic-lined pipe, flanges, and fittings as listed in Table 1. Pressure limitations shall be in accordance with ASME B16 Standards, except reduced pressure limitations may be established by the manufacturer, considering both pressure and temperature limitations of the ferrous metal housing and the sealing ability of the liner. NOTE 1—In this specification, propylene plastics cover those materials defined as both polypropylene plastics and propylene plastics in Terminology F412. Both materials are identified as “PP” on the product. Note that this is at variance with Terminology D1600, where “PP” is the abbreviation for polypropylene. 1.3 The plastic-lined flanged pipe and fitting assemblies are limited to temperatures shown in Table 2. End users should consult with manufacturers as to the likely result of using a particular lined piping component at temperatures below the rated minimum. NOTE 2—The temperature limitations are based on noncorrosive test conditions. Use in specific aggressive environments may alter temperature limitations. In such instances, specific temperature limits shall be established by mutual agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer. 1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.6 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
