This International Standard specifies a method for calibrating the kinetic energy scales of Auger electron spectrometers with an uncertainty of 3 eV, for general analytical use in identifying elements at surfaces. In addition, it specifies a method for establishing a calibration schedule. It is applicable to instruments used in either direct or differential mode, where the resolution is less than or equal to 0,5 % and the modulation amplitude for the differential mode, if used, is 2 eV peak-to-peak. It is applicable to those spectrometers equipped with an inert gas ion gun or other method for sample cleaning and with an electron gun capable of operating at 4 keV or higher beam energy.

This International Standard specifies a method for calibrating the kinetic energy scales of Auger electron spectrometers used for elemental and chemical state analysis at surfaces. It also specifies a calibration schedule for testing the kinetic energy scale linearity at one intermediate energy, for confirming the uncertainty of the scale calibration at one low and one high kinetic energy value, for correcting for small drifts of that scale and for defining the expanded uncertainty of the calibration of the kinetic energy scale with a confidence level of 95 % (this uncertainty includes contributions for behaviours observed in interlaboratory studies but does not cover all possible defects). It is applicable only to those instruments incorporating an ion gun for sputter cleaning. It is not applicable to instruments with kinetic energy scale errors significantly non-linear with energy. Neither it is applicable to those instruments operated at relative resolutions poorer than 0,2 % in the constant △EIE mode or 1,5 eV in the constant △E mode, those requiring tolerance limits of ±0,05 eV or less, nor to those with an electron gun that cannot be operated in the energy range 5 keV to 10 keV. It does not provide a full calibration check for confirming the energy measured at each addressable point on the energy scale, this being performed according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

This part of ISO 15212 specifies metrological requirements, among others, for oscillation-type density meters as well as for functional units (see 4.2) of oscillation-type density meters, which are used in process for all kinds of homogeneous liquids. This includes liquified gases. Instructions and methods for installation, preadjustment, adjustment and calibration of process instruments are also given. The instruments are either integral systems or functional units, which can be combined into an integral measuring system. This part of ISO 15212 does not describe the method of use of process density meters for particular applications or products, e.g. petroleum products or beverages. Such methods of use can be defined by relevant institutions such as ISO or responsible Government agencies. This part of ISO 15212 does not define an instrument specification for any particular application. For this information reference should be made to the relevant standard covering the method of use. This part of ISO 15212 is addressed to manufacturers of density meters and to bodies, testing and certifying the conformity of density meters. This part of ISO 15212 also gives recommendations for adjustment and calibration of process density meters. Oscillation-type density meters used in laboratories are addressed in ISO 15212-1.

Density is a fundamental physical property that can be used in conjunction with other properties to characterize both the light and heavy fractions of petroleum and to access the quality of crude oils. Determination of the density or relative density of petroleum and its products is necessary for the conversion of measured volumes to volumes at the standard temperatures of 15°C. The determination of densities at the elevated temperatures of 40 and 100°C is particularly useful in providing the data needed for the conversion of kinematic viscosities in centistokes (mm2/s) to the corresponding dynamic viscosities in centipoises (mPa·s).1.1 This test method covers the determination of the density of oils more viscous than 15 cSt at 20176;C (mm2/s), and of viscous oils and melted waxes at elevated temperatures, but not at temperatures at which the sample would have a vapor pressure of 100 mm Hg (13 kPa) or above. Note 18212;To determine the densities of less viscous liquids at 20 or 25176;C use Test Method D 1217.1.2 This test method provides a calculation procedure for converting density to relative density (specific gravity).1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.1 This test method describes two procedures for the measurement of the density of materials which are fluid at the desired test temperature. Its application is restricted to liquids of vapor pressures below 600 mm Hg (80 kPa) and viscosities below 40000 cSt (mm2/s) at the test temperature. The method is designed for use at any temperature between 20 and 100176;C. It can be used at higher temperatures; however, in this case the precision section does not apply. Note 18212;For the determination of density of materials which are fluid at normal temperatures, see Test Method D 1217.1.2 This test method provides a calculation procedure for converting density to specific gravity.1.3 The values stated in acceptable SI units are to be regarded as the standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For specific precautionary statements see Note 1 and Note 2.

1.1 This test method covers a uniform procedure for the determination of strain gage fatigue life at ambient temperature. A suggested testing equipment design is included.1.2 This test method does not apply to force transducers or extensometers that use bonded resistance strain gages as sensing elements.1.3 Strain gages are part of a complex system that includes structure, adhesive, gage, leadwires, instrumentation, and (often) environmental protection. As a result, many things affect the performance of strain gages, including user technique. A further complication is that strain gages, once installed, normally cannot be reinstalled in another location. Therefore, it is not possible to calibrate individual strain gages; performance characteristics are normally presented on a statistical basis.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to its use.

This European Standard specifies general requirements for the construction, testing and performance of electrically operated carbon monoxide gas detection apparatus, designed for continuous operation in domestic premises. The apparatus may be mains or battery powered. Such apparatus is intended to warn of an accumulation of CO, enabling the occupant to react before being exposed to significant risk. This standard specifies two types of apparatus, these are: Type A - to provide a visual and audible alarm and an executive action in the form of an output signal that can be used to actuate directly or indirectly a ventilation or other ancillary device. Type B - to provide a visual and audible alarm only. This standard excludes apparatus: - for the detection of combustible gases, other than carbon monoxide itself; (see EN 50194:2000); - for the detection of CO in industrial installations or commercial premises; (see EN 45544 series); - for use in boats, caravans or mobile homes; - for CO measurement for smoke and fire detection (see prEN 12239).
