Scope
This International Standard specifies the scope and information requirements for the integration of resources necessary for the exchange of information between 3D design application systems for the configuration control of mechanical parts and assemblies. Configuration in this context only includes processes and data that control 3D product design data. The concept of exchange used here is narrow in scope and includes only those exchanged data defined as three-dimensional products. Organizations exchanging data within the scope of this standard may have contractual relationships, the details of which are outside the scope of this standard. Note: The application of the activity model in Annex E provides a graphical representation of the processes and information flows that are the basis for defining the scope of this standard.
