This part of GB/T 16656 specifies a language capable of defining product data. This language is called EXPRESS. This part also specifies the graphical expression of resource construct subset in EXPRESS language, this graphical expression is called EXPRESS-G. This section applies to: data types; constraints on instances of data types. This section does not apply to: Definition of database format; Definition of file format; Definition of transmission format; Process control; Information processing; Exception handling. EXPRESS is not a programming language.
