- Scope
- This standard specifies the requirements for terminal strips of screw-type or non-screw-type terminals, mainly intended for industrial or similar purposes, mounted on racks to provide electrical connections for copper conductors and mechanical coupling. This standard applies to circuits with a rated voltage AC not exceeding 1000V (1140V) and a frequency up to 1000Hz or directly exceeding 1500V, for connecting cross-sectional areas of 0.2mm2 to 300mm2 (AWG24 /600MCM) Terminal block for round copper conductors with or without special processing. This standard does not apply to terminal blocks or connection devices as integral components of electrical appliances, which shall be specified by relevant product standards. This standard does not apply to: - special connection devices that need to be added to the wires before clamping them into the terminal, such as flat push-in connectors; - connection devices that require twisted wires to achieve the connection, such as connecting lugs of splicing joints; - connection means for direct contact with conductors by means of sharpened knives or pointed points piercing the insulation. The above-mentioned connection devices are specified in other product standards. Note: For some special types of terminal blocks (such as isolated terminal blocks), if no suitable standard can be adopted, this standard can be used as a guide.
