Scope
This section applies to circuit breakers whose main contacts are used to connect to circuits with a rated voltage not exceeding AC 1000V or DC 1500V. This section also specifies supplementary requirements for circuit breakers with fuses. This section applies to circuit breakers of any rated current, various structural types or various intended uses. Requirements for circuit-breakers used as earth-fault protection are included in Annex B. Additional requirements for electronic overcurrent protective circuit breakers are included in F. Additional requirements for circuit breakers for IT systems are included in Annex H. The requirements and test methods for electromagnetic compatibility of circuit breakers are included in Appendix J. The requirements for circuit-breakers without overcurrent protection are included in Annex L. Requirements for residual current device modules (without internal current-disconnecting devices) are included in Annex M. The requirements and test methods for electromagnetic compatibility of circuit breaker accessories are included in Appendix N. Requirements for instantaneous trip circuit breakers (ICBs) are included in Appendix O. Supplementary requirements for circuit breakers used as direct starters are specified in GB 14048.4-2003 for low-voltage contactors and starters. The requirements for circuit breakers designed for wire protection in buildings and similar places and designed for use by unskilled personnel are specified in GB 10963. The requirements for circuit breakers for equipment (such as electrical appliances) are specified in GB 17701-2008. Some necessary special regulations and supplementary requirements may be made for circuit breakers for some specific purposes (such as traction, rolling mill and marine). The purpose of this standard is to specify: a) characteristics of circuit breakers; b) conditions to be met by circuit breakers in the following cases: 1) operation and performance in normal operation; 2) operation and performance in overload conditions and short circuit conditions Including the action and performance of the coordinated use in operation (such as the coordination of selectivity and backup protection); 3) Dielectric properties. c) The various tests and test methods used to prove that the above conditions are met; d) The data marked or given on the circuit breaker.
