This chapter of GB 4706.1-2005 is replaced by the following: This Part deals with the safety of dry-type electric irons and steam electric irons for household and similar purposes, including steam electric irons with a separate water tank or evaporator with a capacity not exceeding 5L For the safety of irons, the rated voltage of the appliance does not exceed 250V. Appliances not intended for general household use, but which nevertheless may pose a danger to the public, such as electric irons intended for use by non-professionals in shops, light industry and on farms, also fall within the scope of this standard. As a practical matter, the appliances covered by this standard present common hazards which all persons may encounter in the home and its surroundings. In general, however, this standard does not deal with: - the dangers of unattended young children and disabled persons using appliances; - the situation of young children playing with appliances.
