This chapter of GB 4706.1-2005 is replaced by the following: This part of GB 4706 concerns the safety of household and similar battery chargers whose output is a safety extra-low voltage and whose rated voltage does not exceed 250V. Battery chargers that are not intended to be used as general household but may still constitute a source of danger to the public, battery chargers intended to be used in garages, shops, light industrial sectors and farms, are within the scope of this standard. In practical terms, this section deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the dwelling. However, this section generally does not consider:--The following groups of people (including children) • have impairments in physical, sensory or mental abilities; or • lack the necessary experience and knowledge to prevent them from using appliances safely without supervision or guidance ;--The situation where young children play with utensils.
