Scope

1.1 The first part deals with the safety of hand-held electric tools with AC single-phase and DC rated voltage not greater than 250V and AC three-phase rated voltage not greater than 440V driven by electric motors or electromagnets. Where applicable, Part I deals with common hazards posed by hand-held tools that people actually encounter in their everyday use and reasonably foreseeable misuse of tools. Tools with electric heating elements fall within the scope of Part 1. These tools will also comply with the relevant parts of the GB 4706 series. Hand-held electric tools (hereinafter referred to as tools) that can be mounted on a support and can be used as a stationary tool without changing the tool itself are also included in the scope of Part I, but in this case, additional requirements may be required. The second part stipulates. For motors that are not isolated from the mains and whose basic insulation is not designed for the rated voltage of the tool, the requirements are specified in Appendix A and Appendix B. Part 1 does not apply to: - hand-held tools used in places where special conditions such as corrosive or explosive atmospheres (dust, vapor or gas) are often present; - hand-held tools for preparing and processing food; - medical use Hand-held tools (IEC 60601); - Electric heating tools within the scope of GB 4706.41. Hand tools used in vehicles, boats or aircraft may require additional requirements; hand tools used in tropical countries may require special requirements.
