Scope

This part specifies the relevant safety requirements for the structure, transportation, installation, commissioning, setting, teaching or process conversion, operation, cleaning, maintenance, scrapping and dismantling of leather sheeting machines, trimming machines and strip cutting machines. This section contains all major hazards, hazardous states and hazardous events associated with machines within the scope of this section arising from the intended use and foreseeable misuse of the machine by the operator (see Appendix A). This standard applies to sheeting machines, trimming machines and strip cutting machines used for material processing in the footwear industry. This section does not apply to: - trimming machines using rotary milling tools for trimming material; - splitting machines used in the tanning industry; - portable machines.
