This chapter of GB 4706.1-2005 is replaced by the following content: This Part relates to electric sewing machines used in households and similar occasions, whose single-phase rated voltage does not exceed 250V, and the voltage of other appliances does not exceed 480V. Overlock sewing machines and electric components are also within the scope of this standard. Appliances not intended for use in households, but intended for use in places where there is a danger to the public are also within the scope of this standard. For example, appliances used by non-professionals in shops and light industrial establishments. As far as practical is concerned, the appliances covered by this standard present common hazards which all persons may encounter in the dwelling and in the surrounding environment of the dwelling. In general, however, this standard does not address: - the dangers of unattended young children and disabled persons using appliances; - the situation of young children playing with appliances.
