This chapter in GB 4706.1-2005 is replaced by the following: This Part applies to the safety of electric kitchen machinery for household and similar purposes with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V. Appliances intended for general household and similar use and appliances which may also be used in shops, in light industry and on farms by non-electricians also fall within the scope of this standard. However, household and similar appliances are not considered if the appliance is intended exclusively for the processing of food for commercial consumption. As a practical matter, this standard deals with the general hazards presented by appliances that all persons may encounter in and around the dwelling. However, this standard does not generally consider: - the use of appliances by unattended young children or disabled persons. - Situations where young children play with utensils.
