Scope

This part specifies the general definition, the evaluation method of site pollution degree (SPS), and summarizes the principle of general performance judgment for a certain type of insulator in a certain polluted environment. This section applies to the selection of insulators for high-voltage systems used in polluted conditions and the determination of related dimensions. This standard applies generally to all types of external insulation, including insulation of parts constituting other electrical appliances. This section does not deal with the impact of snow, ice or altitude on polluted insulators.
