This Code is applicable to piping in gaseous and liquid hydrogen service and to pipelines in gaseous hydrogen service. This Code is applicable up to and including the joint connecting the piping to associated pressure vessels and equipment but not to the vessels and equipment themselves. It is applicable to the location and type of support elements but not to the structure to which the support elements are attached. The design for pressure and temperature shall be in accordance with the requirements of Part IP for industrial piping and Part PL for pipelines. This Code is presented in the following parts and appendices: (a) Part GR — General Requirements. Part GR contains requirements applicable to and referenced by other parts. It contains definitions and requirements for materials, welding, brazing, heat treating, forming, testing, inspection, examination, operation, and maintenance. It also contains quality system topics common to the other parts. (b) Part IP — Industrial Piping. Part IP includes requirements for components, design, fabrication, assembly, erection, inspection, examination, and testing of piping. (c) Part PL — Pipelines. Part PL sets forth requirements for components, design, installation, and testing of hydrogen pipelines. (d) Mandatory Appendices I through IX (e) Nonmandatory Appendices A through F Each part defines requirements for piping or pipelines, as applicable, within its scope. The requirements are different for different aspects of components, design, fabrication, installation, assembly, erection, inspection, examination, and testing. It is required that each part be used in conjunction with the General Requirements section but independent of the other parts. The joint connecting piping governed by two different parts shall be subject exclusively to the requirements of one of the two parts. It applies to pipes and fittings, as manufactured, as well as to the installed lining system. It is applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipe of either solid wall single layer or co-extruded layer construction, which is reduced in the factory or on site to provide a close-fitting independent or interactive pressure pipe liner, as well as associated fittings and joints for the construction of the lining system. This document is not applicable for coated PE pipes having a peelable, contiguous, thermoplastics additional layer on the outside of the pipes. It is applicable to PE pipes, fittings and assemblies intended to be used at an operating temperature of 20 °C as the reference temperature. NOTE For other operating temperatures, guidance is given in ISO 4437-5:2014.

This document, read in conjunction with ISO 11299-1, specifies requirements and test methods for pipes and fittings which are part of plastics piping systems installed as continuous pipes in the renovation of underground gas supply networks. It is applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipes of three different types: — PE solid wall single layered pipes (nominal outside diameter, dn), including any identification stripes; — PE pipes with co-extruded layers on either or both the outside and inside of the pipe (total outside diameter, dn), as specified in Annex A, where all layers have the same MRS rating; — Coated PE pipes (outside diameter, dn) having a peelable, contiguous, thermoplastics additional layer on the outside of the pipe (“coated pipe”), as described in Annex A. In addition it covers: — jointing of pipe lengths by means of butt fusion; — fabricated and injection-moulded fittings made of PE; It is applicable to PE pipes, fittings and assemblies intended to be used at an operating temperature of 20 °C as the reference temperature. This standard is intended to be used for rubber and plastic hose assemblies of the types: 1ST, 1SN, 2ST and 2SN according to DIN EN 853, 1TE, 2TE and 3TE according to DIN EN 854, 4SP, 4SH, R13 according to DIN EN 856, R15 according to ISO 3862 and 1SC and 2SC according to DIN EN 857 as well as plastic hoses assemblies of the types R7, R8 and R18 according to ISO 3949, appropriate for temperatures of -40° C up to + 100° C (hose types R13 and R 15 to 120°C) and hose connectors of the light and heavy duty series according to DIN ISO 12151-2 and DIN ISO 12151-3. This standard contains information about the most important criteria for selection and reference of hoses and connectors, the installation and connection dimensions as well as the requirements for the installation of hose assemblies. The comparative presentation of respective hoses types in Table 1 and Table 2 gives designers guidelines for the selection of hoses (nominal diameter and design) and their appropriate connectors, in case the piping of a system has already been determined. Further, guidelines are given in this standard for storage, life cycle and necessary inspections to ensure the full functionality of those assemblies.
