Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for the construction, testing and marking of category Il "n" electrical apparatus for potentially explosive atmospheres of gases, vapors and mists. This standard applies to non-sparking electrical equipment and also applies to those parts or circuits that produce arc sparks or hot surfaces, and the electrical equipment protected by one of the methods specified in this standard cannot cause ignition of the surrounding explosive atmosphere. Non-incendive components are restricted for use in specific circuits that are proven to be non-incendive and, therefore, cannot be individually assessed for compliance with this standard. Compliance of electrical equipment with this standard does not imply the cancellation or reduction of any requirements of other standards to be complied with. This part is a supplement and improvement to the requirements for general industrial application equipment. Note 1: This standard refers to some special provisions of GB 3836.1. This does not require the "rl" type electrical equipment to comply with the GB 3836.1 standard as a whole, or that the level of protection achieved by complying with this part should not be considered equal to the level of protection achieved by complying with GB 3836.1 and the specific standards listed therein. Note 2: The electrical equipment conforming to this part shall be subject to explosion-proof inspection by the inspection unit approved by the national quality supervision department.
