GB/T 5169.27-2008 Fire hazard testing for eletric and electronic products.Part 27:Smoke obscuration.Small-scale static test.Description of the apparatus (English Version)
This part of GB/T 5169 describes the apparatus, calibration procedures and basic test procedures for determining the specific optical density of smoke produced by vertical exposure of materials to a radiant heat source (whether or not a pilot flame is used). The dimensions of the test samples have been determined. The optical density was measured in a controllable pressure control box previously calibrated with reference substances. This method is only applicable to solid, non-metallic planar samples. Not suitable for non-planar samples, such as insulated wires and cables, because such products cannot obtain a uniform heat flux distribution. This section does not provide a rating for the material. This method is not suitable for materials that melt and flow away under the direct impact of heat flow, as it cannot obtain reproducible results. WARNING: Because the pyrolysis or combustion of the test product can produce toxic and harmful gases, appropriate safety measures should be taken.
