This document provides general guidance on fire hazard assessment, which involves how to reduce the fire risk and potential impact of electrical and electronic products to the allowable range, as the guidance for the rest of GB/T 5169. This document does not provide guidance on how to use fire compartments and use detection and suppression systems to reduce fire hazards. This document describes the relationship between the fire risk and the potential impact of fire, and provides guidance for product standards committees on the applicability of qualitative and quantitative fire tests in the fire hazard assessment of electrical and electronic products. The calculation of fire risk is outside the scope of this document. This document emphasizes the importance of fire hazards and fire conditions in risk assessment and discusses the guidelines used to determine the technical development of fire hazard test methods. This document also discusses the different types of fire tests, especially the types of qualitative and quantitative fire tests. It also describes the maintenance and development of qualitative fire tests applicable to product standardization committees. This document is intended for product committees to prepare standards based on the principles specified in IECGu i de104 and ISO/IECGu i de51. One of the tasks of product committees is to use this series of standards wherever applicable when writing standards in this field. Unless specifically mentioned or listed in the relevant standards, otherwise the requirements of this document, test methods or test conditions will not apply.
